Introduction

This call of Horizon 2020 aims at supporting the management of health and wellbeing whileempowering the participation of citizens and facilitating the transformation of health and careservices to more digitised, person-centred and community-based care models, thereby enablingbetter access to healthcare and the sustainability of health and care systems. It will contribute tomaximising the potential of the digital economy in the health and care sectors aiming at sustainabledevelopment to the benefit of society, environment and citizens.

 

Topics

SC1-DTH-03-2018: Adaptive smart working and living environments supporting active and healthyageing.

Scope: develop and validate digitally enabled adaptive services and solutions leading tosmart work environments for older adults, supporting them to remain actively involved inprofessional life, helping them to sustain and renew their work and personal life related skills andsupport independent active and healthy lifestyles while taking into account reduced capabilities dueto age-related health conditions. Type of action: Research and Innovation Action (RIA). Budget: 25million euro. Grant amount: between 3 and 4 million euro.

 

SC1-DTH-07-2018: Exploiting the full potential of in-silico medicine research for personaliseddiagnostics and therapies in cloud-based environments.

Scope: develop and validate software toolsand devices for diagnostic or treatment based on computational modelling and simulation applied inbiology and physiology. The solutions should enable decision making in complex situations andcontribute to a more precise and personalised management of diseases in order to reduce the burdenof non-communicable diseases, such as cancer. Type of action: RIA. Budget: 35 million euro. Grantamount: between 10 and 15 million euro.

 

SC1-DTH-08-2018: Prototyping a European interoperable Electronic Health Record exchange.

Scope: develop a secure and interoperable platform in compliance with the General Data ProtectionRegulation and the Network and Information Systems directive. The work should include thedevelopment of a European prototype implementation with embedded security and large scaletesting and validation in a set of use cases with demonstrated relevance for citizens' health and withinvolvement of citizens, hospitals, medical doctors, pharmacies and health professionals. Type ofaction: RIA. Budget: 30 million euro. Grant amount: between 6 and 10 million euro.

 

SC1-HCC-01-2018: Supporting investment in smart living environments for ageing well throughcertification.

Scope: consolidate knowledge from related projects and initiatives to identify the mostappropriate scheme for harmonisation, certification, approval labelling or reliable identification ofadequate smart living environments for ageing well, including indicators and good practices. Typeof action: Coordination and Support Action (CSA). Budget and grant amount: 1 million euro.

 

SC1-HCC-03-2018: Support to further development of international cooperation in digitaltransformation of health and care.

Scope: develop and deliver a roadmap for internationalcooperation which outlines key relevant research and innovation areas in digital solutions andservices for active and healthy ageing. International cooperation is encouraged, in particular withthe US, Canada, Japan, South Korea and China. Type of action: CSA. Budget and grant amount: 2million euro.

 

SC1-HCC-04-2018: Digital health and care services – support for strategy and (early) adoption.

Scope: Create favourable framework conditions for cross-border Communities of Practise andcreate a network that will assist the health and care research and innovation ecosystems in takinginvestment decisions on future procurement of research and innovation and, eventually, on (largescale) deployment of eHealth systems and new care delivery models. The network should supportexisting ecosystems, create capacities, promote, co-ordinate, collaborate with other innovationaccelerators and investors, and focus on adoption and scale of health innovation European wide.Type of action: CSA. Budget and grant amount: 3 million euro.

 

SC1-HCC-05-2018: Support to a Digital Health and Care Innovation initiative in the context ofDigital Single Market (DSM) strategy.

Scope: the Communication on the mid-term review of theimplementation of the Digital Single Market Strategy identified three priorities on digitaltransformation of health and care (DTHC): citizens' access to their data; data infrastructure;interaction between citizens and healthcare providers for better health management. To implementthese priorities the project should address the following activities: a) Delivery on the third DTHCpriority of the DSM (focusing on user-centred integrated care); b) Collaboration platforms on keyaspects of the three DTHC priorities of the DSM; c) Vision of EU coordination and support onDTHC beyond 2020. Type of action: CSA. Budget and grant amount: 4 million euro.

 

Partnership criteria

The call funds two typologies of projects, each one with different partnership criteria:- RIA: at least three legal entities established in 3 EU Member States or Horizon 2020 associatedcountries;- CSA: at least one legal entity established in an EU Member State or Horizon 2020 associatedcountry.

 

Funding

The grant covers 100% of projects’ costs.
