Objectiu de la convocatòria

The aim of the call is to enable scientists in different countries to build an effective collaboration on a common interdisciplinary research project based on complementarities and sharing of expertise, with a clear translational research approach. Subject: a group of rare diseases or a single rare disease following the European definition i.e. a seriously debilitating and/or life-threatening disease affecting not more than five in 10.000 persons in the EU

Característiques principals

Transnational research proposals must cover at least one of the following areas, which are equal in relevance for this call:

a) Collaborative research using patient databases and corresponding collections of biological material that would generally not be possible at a national scale.

b) Research on rare diseases including genetic, epigenetic, and pathophysiological studies, using innovative and shared resources, technologies (OMICS, new generation sequencing, etc.) and expertise.

c) Research on development of applications for diagnosis and therapies for rare diseases.

Requisits

Minimum of three and maximum of six eligible research groups from at least three different countries participating to the call (see the list in the Call text)

Maximum of two research groups from one country

Additional partners that secure their own funding may join consortia. However, their number is limited to two. The consortium coordinator must always be eligible to receive funding from the funding organisations participating in the call.

- Approximative number of research groups that can be funded: 3-5

- Remarks concerning eligibility criteria:

Maximum 150 K€/coordinator (maximum 200 K€ for the whole Spanish part), 100 K€/participant (maximum 150K€ for the whole Spanish part).

Only one application can be submitted per Spanish project partner.

Researchers with ongoing E-Rare projects in 2016 will be discarded. Exceptions: when the Spanish project partner (PI) is the consortium coordinator. Compatibility regarding ongoing projects/parallel applications within the R+D+I Plan of Spain, European Union or International frameworks is subject to the specifications stated in the relevant calls.

- Eligible organisations:

Hospitals, primary health care or public health settings of the Spanish National Health System (SNS) with legal address in Spain (These must be part of the SNS and manage research via a foundation, in accordance to the Spanish Act 50/2002, of December 26th (a copy of the foundation's statutes must be submitted))

Health Research Institutes (IIS) certified according to the RD 339/2004, of February 27th (managed via a foundation according to the Spanish Act 50/ 2002, of December 26th) and only if the Spanish applicant is the consortium coordinator

CIBERs only if the Spanish applicant is the consortium coordinator

Participation of SME's and other private (Bio) companies at their own cost or as subcontractors is strongly encouraged. Spanish applicants should be aware and they are encouraged to foster it

Pre-proposal requirements:

Description of the project: max. 5 pages DIN-A4, Arial 11, single-spaced, margins of 1.27)

Diagrams of the work plan, timeline, work flow and interconnections of work packages (Gantt chart, Pert or similar, max. 1 page)

Appendix with references (one page maximum) and diagrams, figures, etc. (one page maximum)

Budget plan of the project

Academic CV (max. 1 page) with 5 most relevant publications for each participating principal investigator
