Objective

The overall objective of this grant is to encourage innovative research into the role that Janus kinase pathways play in the pathophysiology and immunology of inflammatory bowel disease with the goal of ultimately improving IBD treatment.

Description

This award provides up to $100,000 per year for two years (total $200,000) to an investigator interested in studying the role of Janus kinase (JAK) pathways in the pathophysiology and immunology of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).

Eligibility

Candidates for this award must hold an MD, PhD or equivalent degree (e.g., MB, ChB, MBBS, DO) and a full-time faculty position at a nonprofit institution.

There are no geographic or applicant age restrictions.

AGA membership is not required to apply for this grant.

However, if the grant recipient is not a member, he/she is encouraged to submit an application for membership Applications involving interventional studies of a Pfizer product are out of scope and will not be accepted.

Selection Criteria

The recipient will be selected based on the following criteria: significance and implications of the research to the treatment of IBD, innovation, approach, the applicant's research environment, and evidence of institutional commitment.

Application Process

To be considered for this grant, you must:

Complete the AGA-Pfizer application form (see attached) first as some of this information can be "cut & pasted" into the Pfizer application (INSPIIRE) portal.

The AGA-Pfizer application and required documentation (e.g., bio sketch) must be combined into one PDF file, titled by the applicant's last name and first initial and emailed to awards@gastro.org.

Follow the instructions (see attached) to complete the second application in the INSPIIRE portal
