The de-Duve Institute is a multidisciplinary biomedical research institute in Belgium and hosts several laboratories of the faculty of medicine of Université catholique de Louvain (UCL), as well as the Brussels branch of the Ludwig Institute.

One year postdoctoral fellowships are available to young scientists from outside Belgium, who wish to conduct research within one of the research groups in the de-Duve Institute. Candidates may renew their fellowship for a further year if required.

Candidates will be assessed by the de Duve Institute fellowship committee and prior to this the applicants are encouraged to present a seminar at the Institute - if this is not possible they will be interviewed by teleconference.

Approximately €2,400 monthly allowance will be provided tax-free.

The Institute covers insurance for accidents at work or on the way from home to work, and offers a partial reimbursement of travel expenses for commuting by public transport.

Eligible candidates must hold a PhD or MD degree and be in a situation of 'international mobility' ie in principle they should not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies etc) in Belgium for more than 12 months in the three-year period before submission of their application.

It is mandatory that candidates contact the group leader of their chosen laboratory before making an application.

Applications must be submitted by the annual deadlines of 15 March and 15 September.
