The purpose of this fellowship is to encourage biomedical research in the field of pediatric and adult genetic cholestatic diseases sharing mutual disease-causing mechanisms.
Applications
- Application for 'The Daniel Alagille Award' is open from 30 October to 30 November.
- Applications are reviewed by a Committee of independent experts.
- Applicants are notified by the end of February
- Successful applicants are requested to attend The International Liver Congress during which awardees are announced. The winner will receive a travel award of up to a maximum of €1,000 for this purpose and a free registration to attend the congress.
- The winner of the Award will receive a total fund of €25,000 from the EASL for the entire research project. The award will be used exclusively to fund the award recipient's research plan as presented in the budget. Upon completion of the research, any unexpended funds will have to be notified and returned to EASL within 30 days of the day of submission of the research project to EASL.
- Upon completion of the project, the EASL Governing Board will reserve its right to ask the award recipient to present the results of the research produced in the format / session it deems most appropriate during the International Liver Congress™.
- In the event the award recipient is unable to complete the research or desires to discontinue the research before its completion, the award recipient will be required to return all unexpended funds within 30 days of notification and any remaining award will be canceled.
- After receiving the award the winner must make him/herself available to present the data of the research project within a maximal delay of 2 years.
- Submission of research progress and financial accounting reports for review by EASL are required annually.
Conditions
- Application should be made in English.
- Applicant must be a registered EASL member.
- Applicant must hold an M.D. or Ph.D. degree and be no more than 40 years old.
- Applicant should hold a full-time position within their institution and should be working in a European institution.
- Only one submission per team will be considered and only one award will be attributed per team/institution with the period of three years.
- The research programme should be feasible within one or 2 years and should not exceed two years.
Application should include
- Original project in any area of pediatric or adult genetic cholestatic diseases (max. 10 pages).
- Detailed CV.
- Itemized budget of the project.
- A letter signed by the applicants’ senior mentor including the following elements:
- A statement detailing the amount of work on design and research undertaken by the applicant.
- A statement that the applicate holds a Ph.D. or M.D. degree and is no more than 40 years old prior to the opening day of the International Liver Congress.
- A statement confirming that the object of the research programme is unpublished by the closing date of the application period.
