The Biocodex Microbiota Foundation funds research projects focused on human gut microbiota related to health and disease. Each year, a call for proposals covers a specific theme chosen by an International Scientific Committee.

For the 2022 call, the theme is 'Structure and Function of the Gut Microbiota Resistome'. Projects will have to explore the functional role of antibiotic resistance genes within the gut microbiome, with a focus on anaerobic microorganisms that are difficult to assess in routine clinical microbiology.

Either clinical or fundamental research proposals can be submitted.

The maximal duration of the project will be three years.

The grant is open to physicians, PhD holders and PharmD (Doctor of Pharmacy) holders working in the subject areas of gastroenterology, paediatrics, microbiology, infectious diseases and internal medicine, etc, worldwide.

A Principal Investigator who has already received a Biocodex Microbiota Foundation international grant cannot apply to the funding opportunity again. However, a Principal Investigator of the Foundation's National Grant can apply for the International Grant.
