Ikerbasque offers 15 contract positions for postdoctoral researchers, within any of the Basque Research Institution.

These Fellowships are directed to promising young researchers; they are intended to offer a track towards a PI role and independent research. During the initial years of the Fellowships, the research outcome of host research groups should be increased with fellow’s work and he/she should be able to acquire the necessary skills for a research leader role.

The evaluation committee will only consider strongest candidates with excellent leadership capabilities and an outstanding research record. Applications from women are especially welcomed.

Requirements

Promising young researchers

The applicants must have their PhD completed between 1/1/2005 and 31/12/2012. This eligibility period will be extended under special circumstances such as maternity or long-term illness.

Promising research track and international experience will be considered.

At least two reference letters are mandatory, additional letters are strongly encouraged.

Also an acceptance letter from the PI of the host research group, department or institution is mandatory. Please note the letter from the host institution will also be assessed by the evaluation committee as a reference letter.

Researchers with a permanent position in the Basque Country are not eligible under this call.

This call is cofinanced by the 7th Framework Programme of the European Commision; at least 75% of the positions will be awarded to candidates who meet the Marie Curie international mobility criteria, meaning the applicant has not lived, worked or studied in Spain for more than 12 months out of the three years immediately prior to the deadline of this call.

Salary

The gross annual salary of the Fellowship is 32,500€. The corresponding annual net income after taxes, social security and medical coverage would be approximately 25,000€.

There is a moving allowance for those researchers that come from a research institution outside the Basque Country:

- 4.000 € gross for researchers coming from a foreign research institution.

- 2.000 € gross for researchers coming from a Spanish research institution outside the Basque Country.
