Description:

The Grifols Scientific Awards programme was established to encourage and reward innovative solutions in the widest sense, by supporting researchers around the world who focus their efforts and contribute to progress in health sciences. The awards programme currently consists of the following awards:

  • Martín Villar Haemostasis Awards: awards presented to reward young investigators who have focused on clinical or basic research in haemophilia and von Willebrand disease and to encourage their continued studies in the field.
  • Scientific Progress Immunoglobulins in Neurology (SPIN) Award Program: award presented to develop novel concepts in immunoglobulin research in the field of neurology, encourage the discovery of beneficial immunoglobulin applications for neurologic disorders and promote research of novel therapeutic options for patients with neurologic conditions.
  • Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Laurell's Training Award (ALTA): awards presented to identify and support innovative clinical and scientific research focused on gaining greater insight into the biologic roles of Alpha-1-Antitrypsin (AATD), to offer young scientists and clinicians the opportunity to begin conducting research on AATD or further establish themselves in this area and to establish new and long-lasting relationships with participating scientists and clinicians and strengthen the existing network between researchers and Grifols.
  • Albumin Awards Program (ALBUS): awards presented to recognise research that broadens the knowledge base of albumin's role as a therapeutic product. Proposals may include, but are not limited to: efficacy, mechanism of action, safety and tolerability, quality of life and pharmacoeconomics.
  • Grifols Antithrombin Research Awards (GATRA): awards presented to identify and support research projects on current and new uses of Antithrombin as a therapeutic product and to establish new and long-lasting cooperation with participating scientists and clinicians, to strengthen and increase the existing network between researchers and the company and to foster relationships with KOLs in different fields.
  • Award for Scientific Progress in Immunodeficiency Research (ASPIRE): awards presented to identify and support innovative clinical research projects focused on gaining a greater insight into primary and secondary immunodeficiency diseases. The programme provides financial support to young scientists and clinicians who wish to undertake a research project that seeks to improve immunodeficiency awareness, diagnosis and immunoglobulin therapy.
Requirements

The eligibility criteria can variate depending on the call: 

  • Martín Villar Haemostasis Awards

Eligible candidates are scientists and clinicians up to 40 years of age with an innovative idea relevant to haemophilia and von Willebrand disease pathologies or management with plasma-derived protein therapies. Applications are encouraged from either individuals or research teams who are engaged in research at universities, hospitals, or independent research institutions.

  • Scientific Progress Immunoglobulins in Neurology (SPIN) Award Program

Eligible candidates are scientists or clinicians with an innovative idea relevant to immunoglobulin research in neurology. Applications are encouraged from either individuals or research teams who are engaged in research at universities, hospitals, or independent research institutions.

  • Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Laurell's Training Award (ALTA)

Eligible candidates are early career clinicians and scientists who are new to the field, as well as those who are already studying AATD. Applicants should be under the age of 40 at the time of application.

  • Albumin Awards Program (ALBUS)

Eligible candidates are scientists or clinicians with an innovative idea relevant to albumin research. Applications are encouraged from either individuals or research teams who are engaged in research at universities, hospitals, or independent research institutions.

  • Grifols Antithrombin Research Awards (GATRA)

Eligible candidates are scientists or clinicians with an innovative idea to gain more insight into the uses of Antithrombin. Applications are encouraged from both individuals and teams who may be undertaking research at hospitals, universities or independent institutions.

  • Award for Scientific Progress in Immunodeficiency Research (ASPIRE)

Applications are encouraged from both individuals and teams who may be conducting research at hospitals, universities or independent institutions. The applicant must be under the age of 45 at the time of letter of intent submission.
