Pfizer Global Medical Grants (GMG) supports the global healthcare community's independent initiatives (e.g., research, quality improvement, or education) to improve patient outcomes in areas of unmet medical need that are aligned with Pfizer's medical and/or scientific strategies.
Through this RFP it is our intent to support education programs aimed at the general public or specific patient groups, for example in those with specific comorbidities, to increase the understanding of the impact of characteristics and comorbidities on a person's risk of developing severe COVID-19 and the importance of the early diagnosis and early treatment, if indicated, in categories of patients at increased risk of severe COVID-19. The specific patient groups would include those with particular comorbidities, underlying medical conditions or characteristics which place them at increased risk of developing severe COVID-19. There are numerous risk factors, including certain underlying medical conditions, placing individuals at increased risk for severe COVID-19.
Projects that will be considered for Pfizer support will address one or more of the following:
- increase understanding of a person's risk profile and which comorbidities or characteristics increase a person's risk of developing severe COVID-19;
- increase awareness on the importance of early testing after exposure to SARS-CoV-2 or in presence of suspected COVID-19 signs or symptoms;
- educate on the importance of treatment options available for patients with COVID-19 and at increased risk of developing severe disease;
- understand the needs of increased risk populations and defining the best channels to engage and communicate with them.
Given the current circumstances, programs that can be developed and launched rapidly will be prioritized.
Projects that span multiple European countries and include multiple European languages are encouraged.
It is not our intent to support clinical research projects. Projects evaluating the efficacy of therapeutic or diagnostic agents will not be considered.
