Description:

The aim of the Joint Call is to initiate sustainable and multilateral research cooperation between researchers from Europe, Latin-America and the Caribbean countries. Transnational consortia are invited to submit proposals related to six topics in the thematic fields of Global Challenges, Health, Biodiversity, and Energy (see call topics below). One of the specificities is the inclusion of four topics based on sharing large Research Infrastructures. Projects will be funded for up to 36 months

GLOBAL CHALLENGES

  • Global Challenges I - Interactions and integration between the climate science, Social Sciences and Humanities (SSH) and other communities. Participating funding agencies from: Austria, Bolivia, Brazil (CONFAP), Dominican Republic, Germany, Panama, Poland, Spain (AEI), Turkey, Uruguay.
  • Global Challenges II - Cross-cutting digital research infrastructure. Participating funding agencies from: Austria, Bolivia, Brazil (CNPq, CONFAP), Dominican Republic, Germany, Panama, Spain (AEI), Turkey.

HEALTH

  • Health I - Personalised Medicine. Participating funding agencies from: Austria, Bolivia, Brazil (CNPq, CONFAP), Dominican Republic, Germany, Italy, Panama, Poland, Spain (AEI and ISCIII), Turkey.
  • Health II - EU-LAC Regional Hubs: Integrating research infrastructures for Health and Disease. Participating funding agencies from: Austria, Bolivia, Brazil (CONFAP), Dominican Republic, Germany, Italy, Panama, Peru, Portugal, Spain (AEI), Turkey, Uruguay.

Countries are participating in the 4th EU-LAC Joint Call: Austria, Bolivia, Brazil, Dominican Republic, Germany, Italy, Panama, Peru, Portugal, Poland, Spain, Turkey and Uruguay.

The call is made at European level but each partner of the consortium is funded by its national funding agency and must follow its national funding rules. Spanish participants are funded by ISCIII. There are eligibility requirements for the institutions and principal investigators funded by ISCIII. For Spanish applicants funded by ISCIII: after the evaluation at European level, successful applicants will be invited to submit an application to ISCIII. BUDGET

Maximum funding from ISCIII per awarded Spanish project partner:

  • Up to 175,000 € per partner (overheads included)
  • Up to 250,000 € per coordinator (overheads included)

DURATION

Up to 36 months

Requirements

Each consortium submitting a proposal must involve a minimum of four eligible partners from four different countries with at least two countries from each region
