Maria Elena Huerta Ramos

Researcher Elena Huerta graduated in Psychology in 2003 from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB). She completed the Master's in Neuropsychology and Behavioural Neurology at UAB, finishing in 2006, and obtained a PhD in Neuropsychology from UAB in 2015.
She undertook a predoctoral stay at Monash University (Melbourne) to study the effects of estrogens in women with schizophrenia.
She joined Parc Sanitari Sant Joan de Déu (PSSJD) in 2007 and has been linked to the Research Unit since 2008, alternating between research and clinical activities. She has participated in various clinical trials and in national and international projects in the field of Mental Health. She has led several projects on facial emotion recognition and the legal capacity modification in people with mental illness (RECAPACITA project). She is currently supervising a doctoral thesis on this topic, funded by the FIS.
Since 2018, she has been affiliated with the Community Rehabilitation Service (SRC) of Numancia at PSSJD, where she initiated a line of work on autism. She is currently part of the Day Hospital of Numancia (Autism Program) within the adult mental health network.
In 2022, she began her first research projects on autism in adulthood. She is currently the principal investigator of the line "Applied clinical research in Autism in adulthood," participating in needs assessment studies, the AUTISMAP descriptive study, and the PlaTEA project (Next Generation).
Additionally, since 2017, she has been an associate professor in the Master's in Neuropsychology program at the Open University of Catalonia, teaching the course on child neuropsychology and supervising Master's final projects (TFM). She is also Co-Director of the Castelldefels Psychology Center (CPC), where she trains students in internships for the same master's program
