Marta Pegueroles Neyra

Marta Pegueroles Neyra (Barcelona, ​​1978) is an Industrial Engineer and a PhD in Materials Science and Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC). Currently, she is an Associate Professor in the Department of Materials Science and Metallurgical Engineering and Assistant Director of Promotion and Students at the Barcelona Est School of Engineering (EEBE-UPC). She is the author of several publications in high impact indexed journals and has contributed to numerous national and international conferences in the field of biomaterials. He has done pre-doctoral research stays at the Université Paris XIII (Paris, France) and the Institute of Biomedical Engineering (INEB) (Oporto, Portugal). He has participated in the writing and execution of several funded projects, as well as in the co-direction of doctoral theses and master and bachelor's projects.

The Dr. Pegueroles focuses his research on the development, fabrication and surface modification of biomaterials for cardiovascular applications with the ultimate aim of integrating the biomaterial implanted into the affected arterial tissue. Specifically, it focuses on three lines of study: the development of biodegradable zinc-based metal alloys and the control of degradation through coatings; the manufacture of polymeric and metal stents for 3D printing; and surface modification (bioactivity, topography, drug release, radio-opacity) for acceleration of endothelialization and reduction of restenosis and thrombosis.
