Researcher Eddy Carolina Pedraza Salcedo earned her medical degree in 2006 from the Nueva Granada Military University (Bogotá, Colombia).
She subsequently specialized in Pediatrics at the Sanitas University Foundation in 2017 and obtained her PhD in Health Sciences from the University of Lucerne (Switzerland) in 2024.
During her doctoral studies, she completed a research stay at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (USA), where she was part of the Global Palliative Care team, with which she continues to collaborate on research activities. Her work focused on analyzing the availability of bereavement support programs for families in low- and middle-income countries. After completing her doctorate, she worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Lucerne, continuing her involvement in palliative care through a project on the psychosocial outcomes of parents grieving the loss of children with childhood cancer.
Since October 2025, she has served as scientific coordinator of the Pediatric Palliative Care and Complex Diseases Service (C2P2). She is currently part of the research group on "Chronicity and Pediatric Palliative Care."
