Balma Soraya Hernández Moscoso

Researcher Balma Soraya Hernández Moscoso graduated in Social Work in 2011 from the University of Barcelona with an Extraordinary Diploma Award. In 2013, she pursued the Official Master's Degree in Citizenship and Human Rights, specializing in Bioethics and Applied Ethics at the University of Barcelona, also receiving an Extraordinary Award. She obtained the Official Master's Degree in Healthcare Social Work in 2017 from the Open University of Catalonia. She is currently studying a Bachelor's Degree in Anthropology and Human Evolution at the Rovira i Virgili University.

She is currently a Ph.D. candidate in Sociology at the University of Barcelona, conducting research on the topic: Healthcare Social Work and Pediatric Palliative Care: studying the social, cultural, and organizational factors that influence the care and support provided to families of children with palliative needs.

Since 2017, she has been a lecturer on social intervention in pediatric palliative care in the postgraduate program "Psychosocial and Spiritual Care for People in Advanced Illness" at the University of Vic. In 2022, she was a lecturer in the postgraduate program "Social Pediatrics" at the University of Barcelona.

In 2015, she joined the SJD Barcelona Children’s Hospital as a healthcare social worker in the Palliative Care and Complex Chronic Patient Service.
