Melisa Stitzman Wengrowicz

The researcher Melisa Stitzman is head of the Traumatic and Emergency Unit of the Pediatric Orthopedics and Traumatology Service at the SJD Barcelona Children's Hospital. She completed her residency in Orthopedic Surgery and Traumatology at the Hospital Vall d'Hebron (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona). 

She has complemented her training abroad with different stays: Queen's Medical Center (Nottingham, United Kingdom - AECS Scholarship), Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (United States - SCCOT Scholarship), Hospital Pediatrico Garrahan (Buenos Aires, Argentina) and Children's Hospital of Los Angeles (United States - Gasol Foundation Scholarship). 

She has a degree in AITP, a postgraduate degree in Surgical Anatomy (Universitat de Barcelona), and a diploma as an Expert in Microsurgery (Col·legi Oficial de Metges de Barcelona), currently studying a Master's Degree in Hospital Management (Universitat de Barcelona). 

She attends multiple national/international meetings, presenting papers that have led to scientific publications and book chapters. She collaborates in several research projects, highlighting her participation in the PedORTHO International Registry of AOTrauma and the development of her doctoral thesis.

She was part of the Organizing Committee of the "Paediatric Trauma International Advanced Course, Tricks and Pitfalls" in 2020 at the SJD Barcelona Children's Hospital and is a member of the Teaching Committee of the Sociedad Española de Ortopedia Pediátrica, where she coordinates the International Webinars. 

Melisa she lives her profession as an honor for contributing to the health, quality of life and development of children. For her, patients are teachers who teach her what is important.
