Barcelona Medical Photonics Network
The Barcelona Medical Photonics Network aims to bring cutting-edge photonic technologies to clinical research and ultimately to routine clinical use through the interdisciplinary cooperation of eight prominent health institutions in Barcelona, their research institutes and ICFO. It is part of a broader framework involving other disciplines and the industry.
On the 28th of April 2023, the BMPN will host its annual meeting. This year's topic will be "Microcirculation in health and disease" and will be held at Hospital Universitari Parc Taulí (Sabadell). The talks will cover the importance of accessing microcirculation information in a wide range of clinical areas, in the intensive care unit and beyond. Our latest near-infrared diffuse optics platform (VASCOVID) for the non-invasive assessment of the micro-circulation will be demonstrated.
The speakers and audience will include clinicians as well as technology developers and innovation managers, from the Network but also professionals from outside the region and collaborators from Europe.
We have the honour to host as keynote speaker Dr. Daniel De Backer. Prof. De Backer combines clinical, research, and teaching activities. He is Professor of Intensive Care at the Université Libre de Bruxelles and is Head of Intensive Care Departments of CHIREC hospitals (Brussels and Braine l'Alleud-Waterloo) and former President of the European Society of Intensive Medicine (ESICM).
The goal of the event is to bring members of the BMPN network and others together, to strengthen existing collaborations and initiate new ones. This event is in-person and open to everyone interested.
If you would like to attend the meeting, please register before the end of March.
